II. World War II
Many places are marked by war, but probably
everybody would not expect that war marked some
place on the reverse side of the world, in the
Pacific. It is still on the island can be found
several residues rusty military equipment, huge
massive iron artillery emplacement, rusty guns AA,
mobile cannons, and an old wreck of a Japanese
aircrafts. Explore here, however, can also concrete
artillery guards guarding the beach before the
invasion troops. Most remnants of war can be found
in the capital of Yaren.
Barrier Reef
Around the island is already often mentioned Barrier
Reef. Here you can use to gratify own tastes
attractions like diving and discovering marine
animals. Their variety and diversity is still
somewhat different from known species of for example
the Red Sea. Get advice from the local to the diving
sites are the best. Do not miss the opportunity to
dive in the vicinity, the local you can hear stories
of war, where you could find even a military wreck.
Anibare
Cove Bay Anibare is incomplete bay, but even so it
is more beautiful coastal cities able to succeed in
tourism. Tropical beaches get a few years ago the
project of Japanese architects, who built a port
Anibare. Beaches on Anibare most suitable for
swimming. While others are sandy, but not so smooth
in water. On the others you can find a rock or coral
in the sea.
Mining of guano
The island was known phosphate mining - guano, old
droppings of seabirds. Its stock however are slow
spent and the island have only memories of a surface
mine, which was mined. Today the mines are a tourist
attraction, mining moonscape marked and slowly
tested the weather, even notes karst areas in our
various departments and carved rocks are works of
man. Industrial processing of guano for fertilizer
rich in nitrogen and use in the manufacture of
gunpowder are rather past.
With the phosphate mining and related infrastructure
built and technical equipment at the west coast. On
the coast you can find the huge steel structure of
steel beams, which help transport raw material on
ships. Their size allowed to reach the ship anchored
in the surrounding coral barrier island. At this
point it is opened next to the deep-sea dry land,
because there the local coral reef underwater ends
closer to the mainland.
Buada Lagoon
On the western side of the island in the inland
water area is called. Buada lagoon. In and around
lake you can find wealthy inhabitants of the island
as well as for middle class. The place serves as a
comfortable rest area and it is nice to look at.
Linkbelt Oval stadium Menen
It is not often that an entire country has only one
place where you can play professional football. If
something happens on the island of football, and we
have in mind the Australian football, it will
perhaps at this point. Another place where they
could play the Menen Stadium Meneng in the district,
in the years 2001 to 2007 as part of the land used
for a local camp for refugees and asylum seekers
across Australia. Linkbelt the stadium is therefore
the only way to enjoy the game and local, as against
local hosts in some special games. Located at the
stadium and national football associations. Due to
the high popularity of the game there is no shortage
of players and despite the high percentage of obese
population. Interestingly, the rink does not have
grass but phosphate dust. Therefore, the local
football called "football of tough guy."
Interestingly, the name LinkBelt the company name
who once operated a local production.
